The number of personal computers has well surpassed 1 billion. And with current growth patters it should more than double in the next 6 years! Because of the rate at which computers advance and or become obsolete older computers are being replaced rapidly. Computers now are basically a necessity for success. Couple that with the declining average price for the units and you get a lot of computer sales. Approximately 180 million computers will be replaced this year alone.
But what is happening to the old computers you ask? Well researches say some of them are sold to second users, some are broken up and recycled, but the vast majority will end up in a land fill somewhere. This is very sad considering how many schools and libraries are in need of any type of computers. tsk tsk tsk
