SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - SanDisk on Monday announced it is taking on the compact disk (CD) industry by selling tunes on flash memory “micro-cards” that fit into mobile telephones and MP3 players.
The California-based flash memory titan has teamed with Sony BMG, EMI Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to make the major studios’ titles available in its “ubiquitous microSD format.”

This MicroSD technology is only the stepping stone to the next technology that will be even better. I wouldn’t invest much in MicroSD equipment, it would be like buying a betamax back in the early 80s or a laserdisk player back in the early 90s. Something better is bound to come out soon!

It would be about time, consumers are tired of the inconvenience of scratched cds and dvds. Besides being able to skip tracks on a cd or scenes on a dvd, disks is the worse invention of music and movies.
