A while back on TechnologyCurrent.com I had a post about a piece of software I found that allowed users to stream satellite TV to their computers. Many of my readers had questions about the legitimacy of this software. I have tested a couple programs and the results vary greatly. I decided to put together a list of FAQs and post a SatelliteDirect Review! Here are some of the frequently asked questions I received.


What exactly is SatelliteDirect software?


TV for PC programs was designed with the thought of allowing users to stream televisions programs straight to their computer via the internet. The satellite signals are streamed through an ISP and then on to you.


Is watching television on my computer legal?


Yes! It is legal to install and run these programs on your computer. Remember that the majority of channels watched on TV are air free channels anyway. Instead of a television and an antenna, you have a computer and the internet. The SatelliteDirect software is just the means by which the signals are located and interpreted, so that you may view them on your personal computer.


Is this software for the US only?


No. All of the programs I have tested all have channels broadcasting from pretty much all over the world. For those of you in a country other than the United States, or those of you in the US looking to watch foreign channels you?re in luck. The SatelliteDirect software that I use personally supports English, Spanish, French, Italian and more.


Exactly what kind of channels will I have access to?


I can view just about any channel that my basic cable provider offers. Also included are hundred of internet only stations. I have found that PPV events have also shown up on my programming as well, including sports events! Certain TV to PC programs offer premium channels such as HBO and Cinemax!


Are there really no monthly fees or hidden charges?


If you run across a company that charges a monthly fee run! What would be the point, you could just stick with paying Comcast or Direct TV. Most reputable TV to PC brands charge a one time fee. SatelliteDirect TV is the software that has impressed me the most, and they charge a one time free of $49.99. I have tried less expensive ones and I noticed that the channel selection wasn?t what I wanted and neither was the video quality. I have also tested more expensive programs and the only difference was they had more channels. Unfortunately the extra channels turned out to be a bunch or programming I had no interest in. The foreign channel feature is nice but I only speak one and a half languages so I didn?t see the need to pay more for channels I?d never watch.


I suggest everyone do their own research before purchasing any software. You needs may vary from mine or others. But as current user of Satellite Direct TV, I consider them head and shoulder above the competition, which why I wrote this SatelliteDirect review.
