The Zune (www.zune.com)has a long way to go to become a threat to the iPod(www.ipod.com). But it is getting closer. I personally own the 1st generation Zune and can attest to the fact that it’s not on the iPod’s level yet. I’m a runner and the Zune is horrible at functioning while being shaken, which is the exact opposite of the new iPods that have an accelerator function that uses fast shaking as an input source (watch the video). The video goes more in depth about the newest features of both the Zune and the iPod.

Portable media players are everywhere these days, but they’re not all called iPods and they’re not all made by Apple. The AP’s Rachel Metz tuned out the rest of the world and tuned in some of the latest offerings in this week’s Tech Test.

Myvu Solo Plus

I take it consumers were tired of crashing while talking on their cell phones so Myvu created the ultimate form of vehicular distractions. The Myvu Solo Plus. Don't get me wrong, if you are sitting in a low lit area (subway, airplane, or PASSENGER SEAT) these glasses offer a great experience. You can watch a video on the go, playing from your Ipod or other portable device, and not have to worry about holding the device. The biggest upside compared to other similar glasses is that the user can easily look past the screen by focusing on the distant object. That being said, if you have ever been stumped by those "cool" little magic eye pictures, your eyes may become fatigued by the eye straining focusing game. I think they are awesome. I can't wait to figure out how to hook them up to my PS3 and play Metal Gear Solid 4!! Check out prices at Amazon, then buy one as soon as possible, but make sure to look at the return policy. This new breed of Stereoscopic audio visual glasses are probably not a good fit for everyone. FreshGeek

I just saw an MSNBC video on a new free software that allows one to locate stolen iPod units. If you have an iPod you know your information is stored on the memory. If you have iHound software installed on your iPod as well when It is plugged into a foreign computer a message appears on the thief’s screen, and secretly a message is sent to you and the iHound server! The message includes the computer information, the login information, and the IP address which can be used to geo locate the perp. I have known a lot of poeple who have either misplaced or lost their iPods and this is a genius idea, the low jack for iPods lol.

You can download your own copy here.
